Saint Andrew Apostle Parish offers families an opportunity for being formed in the faith not only through our Catholic school, but also through our parish Faith Formation Program. Formation in faith is essential to parish life and should be a never-ending process. Our program strives to deepen faith and a personal encounter and relationship with Jesus Christ. All church life is educational in some respect, whether it is worship, community building, outreach and serving others, study or teaching.
Saint Andrew Apostle carries out its mission to assist and support parents in their efforts to build a foundation of lifelong learning by offering a catechetical program for students in K through Grade 8. Our program starts in mid-September and finishes in May.
We follow the Archdiocese of Washington Religion Curriculum Guide: Forming Disciples for the New Evangelization, which highlights 6 key elements of Catholic Life: Knowledge of Faith, Liturgy and Worship, Morality, Prayer, Education in Living in the Christian Community and Evangelization and Apostolic Life.
The textbooks, Christ Our Life, by Loyola Press, and Faith and Life by Ignatius Press, are approved by the Archdiocese of Washington and correlate with their curriculum.
The Faith Formation Program is open to students in Kindergarten through Confirmation.
If your child will be in the second year of either our First Sacraments or Confirmation programs, there is a fee in addition to the registration fee.
For more information about the program, contact Mr. Sean Hennigan, Director of Religious Education, at faith.formation@standrewapostle.org or 301-649-3700.
