Founding Principles and Core Values
Charity is at the heart of our work and our faith
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s fraternal benefit society instituted in 1882 by a Parish priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to render mutual aid and assistance to sick, disabled, and needy members and their families. The Knights of Columbus was founded on the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Today, these principles serve as the foundation of our Core Values:
Since its formation, the Knights of Columbus has grown to almost 2 million members around the world.
Our local Council was founded in 2001, taking the name of Thomas M. Wells, former parochial vicar of Saint Andrew’s. Currently at 105 members strong, our mission is to assist parish and local charities, enhance the fellowship of our members, provide for the welfare of our families, and promote Catholic beliefs and values.
